Injectables Q & A

What are cosmetic injectables?

There are 2 main types of aesthetic injectables:

  • Neuromodulators which decrease muscle movement to prevent and minimize wrinkles and
  • Volumizers to improve loss of fat and to restore structure.

By design, cosmetic injectables minimize the signs of aging effectively, but there are distinct differences in the types of products, how they are injected and the amounts used for each patient to achieve the desired results.

Patty prefers using the Galderma line of products as they address all of the aging and rejuvenation problems comprehensively and work together for beautiful results. Also, by using only one manufacturer, pricing is better so APMA’s discounts for bulk ordering are passed on to our clients. Additionally, it is important to understand that Patty charges for the result rather than per syringe, vial or unit because results require larger amounts of product and she combines injetables with surface improvement technologies to improve results. If all issues are not addressed, results are not optimal.

Your face shows aging in two primary ways: dynamic wrinkles and volume loss, each of which is the result of the complex syndrome of chronic conditions, environmental assaults and the physiology of aging.

Dynamic wrinkles form where your muscles’ regular movement creates folds in your skin. These dynamic wrinkles, if untreated, become static wrinkles which are obvious when muscles are resting. Some of the most common dynamic wrinkles are:

  • Frown lines
  • Crow’s feet
  • Forehead lines

But those aren’t the only facial folds that come with age. Natural fat and bone loss cause deeper wrinkles and creases, such as seen with nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and chin creases, to name a few. Additional issues caused by this same volume loss are:

  • Thinning lips
  • Sagging jowls
  • Hollow cheeks

Used in combination, Dysport® (the equivalent to Botox®), Restylane Fillers (Hyaluronic Acid) and Sculptra (Collagen Inducer) return this volume loss in a natural-appearing rejuvenation when injected properly and in adequate amounts. One syringe of filler or 20 units of Dysport just doesn’t cut it in the majority of cases.

At Advanced Practice Medical Aesthetics, Patty offers complementary consultations to show you how these Galderma products reverse aging to improve the shape and contour of your face, resolve a gummy smile, improve your jaw angle or nose shape, and fill in unwanted dimpling. Pairing the cosmetic injectables with other skin rejuvenating treatments promise even more dramatic results and improves dermal health.

How do cosmetic injectables work for dynamic wrinkles?

Dynamic wrinkles develop because the muscles below the skin contract repeatedly as you make facial expressions. With a small, targeted injection of Dysport®, Botulinum Toxin A (similar product to Botox®) Patty temporarily weakens these muscles, to smooth the wrinkles without a “freezing” effect that many patients dread. No movement looks fake, some movement looks rested and natural. Patty also recommends the use of Dysport with Restylane dermal fillers and Sculptra to improve the results. These products really work together.

Dysport® starts to kick in around 3-5 days with full results completed at 2 weeks and usually last 3 1/2 to 4 months. Patty includes complimentary touch-ups in 2 weeks to assure patient satisfaction. Research supports that this product lasts a bit longer and acts quicker than the well-known Botox® product. They are both Botulinum Toxin A, in any case.

How do cosmetic injectables work for volume loss?

Understanding facial volume loss is tricky, knowing how to create a beautiful and natural result takes a skillful and artistic provider. Patty explains the process and the amount of product needed for outstanding results, which in many cases, requires at least 3-5 syringes. Instead of charging by the syringe, which is typical in this aesthetic industry, Patty creates affordable memberships which include the ideal amount of product and the stacked skin technologies that build dermal (skin) health which will only make your injectables last longer and enhance results. She does this through a detailed consultation which includes facial measurements with calipers and detailed discussion about how results will evolve.

Dermal fillers, no matter the manufacturer, are pricey. By combining them with skin technologies, in short term memberships, it really acts like a financing option that gives you monthly treatments and the volume replacement without digging too deep into your pockets. Take a look at our membership pages so that you can understand that partnering with Patty is a savvy investment and a partnership for success.

What’s the process like for getting injectables?

Aligning with the desires of every client undergoing aesthetic treatments: No Downtime, No Pain, Immediate Results, Patty uses cannulas mostly with injections or very small, fine needles to limit discomfort and bruising. In the event of any bruising or redness, Patty employs ADVATx, her painless LASER that can be used to diminish bruising and speed healing and limit downtime. This LASER is recommended as a combination treatment generally to improve skin health and to enhance the effectiveness and overall outcome of aesthetic injectables, again because results are the focus at APMA. Patty’s treatment plans assure a natural rejuvenation in a reasonable timeframe, without surgery with protocols for stacking technology in a way to assure outstanding results with limited downtime. Turning back the hands of time can be quick, painless and immediately enjoyed with Patty’s stacked technology membership plans. Complimentary consultations are a way to look into these options.
