Acne is classified depending on the type and quantity of lesions and treated differently based on its severity. Acne treatments are never solitary and require a combined approach to assure clearance, reverse damage and rejuvenate skin. All types of acne can lead to scarring in one year with consistent outbreaks. Cystic acne will always lead to scarring if not managed quickly. Acne scarring worsens with the natural process of aging and leads to atrophic scarring, making volume loss more apparent. Atrophic scarring is difficult to correct fully but with combination therapies, success is attainable and affordable.

Acne Q & A

What causes acne?

Your acne might have a single cause, or a number of factors might contribute to it. Some of the most common causes of acne are:

  • Hormones
  • Bacteria in your skin
  • Sebaceous glands producing too much oil
  • Dead skin cells or oil clogging the hair follicles

Part of the challenge of treating acne is identifying the cause or causes. Oftentimes, eliminating acne requires multiple applications of multiple treatments aimed at different causes.

At Advanced Practice Medical Aesthetics, Patty offers acne and acne scarring memberships, so you can get the treatment you need for a flat monthly fee. With this membership, you can get one to three treatments per month as deemed necessary. During each treatment, Patty stacks multiple technologies on top of each other to give you the best results.

How is acne treated?

When you choose an acne membership, Patty starts the process by determining which specific acne treatments will be most effective for you. She bases this on your unique skin, your type of acne (e.g., whiteheads, blackheads, cystic acne), and any scarring you currently have.

Some of the acne treatments she commonly uses include:

  • ADVATx Regenerative Medicine technologies such as Platelet Rich Fibrin
  • AGNES: focused, injectable radio frequency
  • Aquafacials for deep pore cleansing and exfoliation
  • Photofacials with intense pulsed light (IPL)
  • VI Peel® chemical peels
  • Dermaplaning
  • Microneedling
  • Hydrating masks

Advanced Practice Medical Aesthetics also has the following brands of medical-grade skin care products available:

  • Vivant Skin Care®
  • NIA24®
  • Biopelle®
  • Defemage®

You use these products at home to further drive your results.

How is acne scarring treated?

If your acne has caused scarring on your face, Patty tailors treatment to minimize the appearance of those scars. That might include:

  • Photofacials with intense pulsed light (IPL)
  • Microneedling with platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) or hyaluronic acid
  • VI Peel® chemical peels
  • Chemical reconstruction of the scars with trichloroacetic acid
  • Cannula Subcision to lift the scars

With your personalized acne scarring treatment, Patty reduces the appearance of your scars to give you smooth, even skin. Patty offers complimentary consultations for individualized plans that assure results affordably.
